What is Somatic Sexuality Education?

Somatic Sexuality Education (SSE) is a hands on approach to learning which encompasses the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of our sexuality, gender, intimacy and pleasure. The word Somatic comes from the Greek word soma and literally means we use the body as a tool for learning and growth.

I support people to find a felt sense of change, supporting them to learn they have a choice in their reactions and feelings when expressing their authentic desires, needs and/or boundaries, giving them a physical, tangible experience, as opposed to just talking about it. SSE is definitely about learning to have even better sex, intimacy, pleasure and relationship than you are already having….

BUT, it’s also a WHOLE lot more…

It can be centered around learning new skills, either to pleasure yourself or a partner. Learning to re connect in an intimate way after an illness, accident or even child birth. It can also be about overcoming anxiety or stress around intimacy or specific challenges such as an inability to orgasm or ejaculation dysfunction.

And just sometimes it’s because we are simply (and most beautifully) curious about creating more pleasure in our lives!

SSE invites clients to bring all of themselves into the learning space. To tune into the way your body speaks to you by sending and receiving information and to explore the uniquely diverse way your body learns.

SSE is sometimes talking, sometimes learning how to become more aware of our physical sensations and feelings, sometimes body work (including genital touch if that is deemed valuable) and always homework. The real work doesn’t happen in my room…it happens in the short, regular homework practices we create to support your learning.
