My story might be a little like yours - I never felt like I belonged anywhere, period. Always trying to prove my worth, to fit in, to be heard and seen. The numbness or the complete over reactions to the littlest if things. Relationships, particulary intimate ones were a mine field ( and some days they still are ). And in my case I added a hypersexualised system on top which ramped up even more upon discovering sex and mixing up sex for love. And then, I sat down in front of someone who was in self ( as we like to say in IFS language) He had access to huge amounts of compassion which for my highly critical system was something it had never experienced before.
